Artist in DragWhat can I say about myself, let's see...
I was born in Queens, NY in the fall of 2005.
I was living there to pursue a career as a Broadway actor.After months of rejection, frustration and desperation I decided to change my life in a more positive way and that's when Chacha was born.
My original name was Angel Peligro, which later changed into Lachika Peligro and then into Chacha Chalez.
So, Chacha went out one night to a gay karaoke competition, right? That's how it ALL started. At this point in my life I had done some drag but nothing really professional, like a Female Illusionist or Drag Performer.
I figured, I didn't have a job or money but I did have a nice voice, so if I win this competition, not only will I be doing something that I am good at, but I will also be getting out of my depression and earning some money for food. I had nothing to lose!!! ... but I didn't win that night.
It was the following night at Shequida's Talent Search at Barracuda when I won first prize a standing ovation. I sang "When You Are Good To Momma" from the musical Chicago. They loved me, they really really loved me!
After that, I did the big apple circuit at The Web, Barracuda, Splash and other nightclubs in Manhattan.
Pretty soon I became bicostal, with bookings at Oasis Nightclub in Upland, and Micky's and Here Lounge in West Hollywood.
In 2006, Hamburger Mary's in Newport Beach, CA gave me the opportunity of hosting my own Bilingual Drag Show called Carnaval every Saturday Night.
I have also competed in the following Drag Beauty Pageants:
* Miss Gay Latina International in Portland,OR.
* Miss Gay Western States in Tucson, AR.
* Miss Gay Heart of America in Omaha, NE.
* Miss Gay America in Memphis, TN.
* Miss Gay Northwest America in Tacoma, WA.
(Still the current title holder.)
Chacha Caché became my new name for a little bit and it marked an evolution of ideas, taking the original Chacha to the next level, the Caché level.
And talking about "EVOLUTION", a new way of doing Drag Talent Shows was born in Sept. 2009.
For over a year, this new format combining Drag Beauty Pageantry, Improvisational Skills, Creativity Competition and Judges Feedback and Scoring while contestants were on stage made "Chacha's Got Talent" the #1 Drag Talent Show in Souther California. PLUSSSS it is the only Drag Talent Show in California to give a crown to every Season Winner!!!!
Back in California, I am expressing my talents in different creative ways like acting, singing and dancing.
I am working very hard to become the best Artist in Drag that I can be and hopefully one day I will be able to make the whole world laugh at the same time!!!.
I am an Artist in Drag living the life that I was born to live!
Now, worldwide known as CHACHA™, my credits include TV, Theater, Film, Music and Prints.
I have been fortunate enough to have worked with amazing celebrities like Chelsea Handler, Chuy Bravo, David Allan Grier, Gene Simmons, Melissa and Joan Rivers.
I am a Top 10 National Entertainer,a Top 3 Drag Entertainer in California and still the reiging Miss Northwest America.
I have released two hit songs"Encuerate/Strip" and "Ritmo", which have been played and purchased around the world and now available at www.masterbeat.com & www.itunes.com.
